Lead Firmware/Software Engineer

SYNOPSIS:
Responsible for firmware architecture/conceptualization, design processes, developer testing, 3rd party development and supporting project and product management as required within a cross-functional group.
Lead the firmware team in achieving state-of-the-art and sustainable performance through the development of team capabilities and best practices in alignment with the Phoenix Contact product development processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical
* Creation of architectures and designs in support of product requirements.
* Lead and directly participate in technology projects.
* Individual contribution as required.
* Maintain awareness of applicable emerging technologies.
* Act as subject matter expert for key technologies pertinent to the group.
* Participate in standards-based technology working groups.
* Work together with both global and local engineering teams to maintain knowledge of programs and peer technologies.
Leadership
* Lead internal and external (3rd Party) development teams from conception to production.
* Maintain overview of all projects and take proactive action to mitigate risk and facilitate the completion of projects within time and budget constraints.
* Lead development of project estimates and plans
* Prioritize and assign resources to support department and team goals.
* Define and coach team on best practices, instill a culture of continuous improvement.
* Ensure that corporate development standards and procedures are followed
QUALIFICATIONS:
* BS (MS/ME preferred) in Computer Science or related field Required.
* Expert level knowledge / experience (5+ years) developing firmware/software for high reliability applications (Industrial, Automotive, Medical, Defense, etc.).
* 3+ years' experience leading development teams and working within cross-functional groups to successfully bring products to market.
* Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and create innovative solutions.
* Experience with industry best practices in firmware / software development and quality assurance.
* Displays proficiency in the following global competencies:

Preference for:
* Proven experience developing applications for embedded Linux in C/C++.
* Knowledge of web and cloud technologies.
* Source level knowledge of Ethernet based and industrial communication protocols.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
*Must be eligible to receive US passport.
*Must be able to travel by air
*Must be able to ride in a car for 6 hours at a time
*Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
*Must be able to communicate in English (written & verbal)
*Must be able to travel overseas for extended periods if required
